Surveyors prepare for Lincoln Castle charity abseil
Two surveyors with a head for heights - Daniel Race and Chris
Burford-Bradshaw - from city chartered surveyors, Hodgson
Elkington, are planning to abseil from the West Gate of Lincoln
Castle to raise money for a talking book service for the blind
and visually impaired.
The two surveyors have been checking and casting a professional
eye over the castle ramparts and tower in preparation for the
charity abseil which will take place on the weekend of May 20-21.
"The last time I did anything like this was when I was at school
and abseiled down a rock face in Iceland. I'm very much looking
forward to challenge and playing a part in raising some of the
£25,000 targeted for the weekend," said Daniel.
Colleague Chris Burford-Bradshaw is an experienced climber and
has conquered major peaks in the UK, the Alps and the 22,494 ft
Ama Dablan mountain near Everest in the Himalayas. He's also
abseiled down 200 ft cliffs, so the short distance down Lincoln
Castle should be straight forward.
"The Royal National Institute for the Blind helped my own
grandmother considerably with her disability and I'm only too
pleased to be able to put something back into such a worthy
cause," said Chris.
Hodgson Elkington whose partnership are sponsoring Daniel and
Chris are also hoping that business clients and associates will
add their support to the money raising event.
