£1,000 for Lincoln Castle charity abseil

Two surveyors with a head for heights - Daniel Race and Chris
Burford-Bradshaw - from city chartered surveyors, Hodgson
Elkington, bagged almost £1,000 by abseiling down the west front
of Lincoln Castle to raise money for a talking book service for
the blind and visually impaired.
They handed over the cash to Royal Institute of the Blind events
canvasser Ellan Paice after completing the 80 ft decent at the
weekend.
"The last time I did anything like this was when I was at school
and abseiled down a rock face in Iceland. It was pretty
nerve-wracking but well worth the effort. Between us we raised
£974 thanks to our clients, colleagues and friends," said Daniel.
Colleague Chris Burford-Bradshaw is an experienced climber and
has conquered major peaks in the UK, the Alps and the 22,494
ft Ama Dablan mountain near Everest in the Himalayas.
He's also
abseiled down 200 ft cliffs, so the short distance down Lincoln
Castle proved no obstacle.
"The Royal National Institute for the Blind helped my own
grandmother considerably with her disability and I'm only too
pleased we were able to put something back into such a worthy
cause," said Chris.
