Dutch agricultural company for Sleaford Enterprise Park
Netagco Sales (UK) Limited, part of the Netagco Group potato
division based in Holland, is to build its headquarters at the
Sleaford Enterprise Park in Sleaford, moving from current
premises in Boston.
The company, which has signed up to take 21/2 acres of
development land on the 79 acre Enterprise Park being developed
by The Farming Investment Company, is responsible for the sales
and marketing of all the Netagco Group potato division products
including Netagco Reekie, Netagco AVR, Netagco Rumpstad and
Netagco Structural.
Work is expected to start on site in the Spring 2000 with the
scheme extending to approximately 20,000 sq ft of purpose built
accommodation.
The latest acquisition to the Netagco Group is the Lincoln based
crop storage specialist, Welvent, which will also relocate to the
new premises on completion. Up to 30 staff will relocate from
Boston and Lincoln to the new premises. More staff may also be
taken on.
"Netagco is precisely the calibre and style of operator the
Enterprise Park has been set up for. There are also a number of
high profile projects in the pipeline which can only be good for
the local and district economy," said Sam Elkington, partner at
Hodgson Elkington, the chartered surveyors who are sole agents
for the scheme.
"The proposed new premises in Sleaford will provide an ideal
location for our sales, marketing and distribution centre in
supplying potato growers throughout the UK with the full line
range of equipment available from Netagco via our extensive UK
dealer network," said David Holmes, Sales and Marketing manager,
Netagco Sales (UK) Limited.
The Sleaford Enterprise Park, is a major commercial development
and is expected to bring hundreds of new jobs to the town,
according to Hodgson Elkington.
Located off the town's East Road at the junction of the A17 and
A153, the development is the culmination of three and a half
years negotiations by developers working with central government
and local authorities. The first £1 million phase of the
development included a new roundabout, relocation of the rugby
club and service roads into the main site.
The principal land owner and developer, The Farming Investment
Company, is looking to sell fully-serviced commercial development
land in plots from half an acre upwards.
"We feel the lack of available land in the past has thwarted
employment growth in and around Sleaford, even though the town is
strategically and well placed at the junction of the A15 and A17
trunk roads. The Sleaford Enterprise Park will create much needed
jobs, lead to the regeneration of the retailing centre of the
town and help restore Sleaford to its former importance," said Mr
Elkington.
"We believe the development will provide new employment
opportunities for young people in the future and that important
employers may now be persuaded to remain in the Sleaford area,"
said James Brown, chairman of the Farming Investment
Company.
Sleaford Enterprise Park has been assisted by
S.R.B. (Single Regeneration Budget) funding from central Government and
substantial contributions from both North Kesteven District and
Lincolnshire County councils. Promoted by the Lincolnshire
Heartlands initiative, the site is also being marketed nationally
by the Farming Investment Company through sole agents, chartered
surveyors, Hodgson Elkington & Co. of Lincoln.
Whilst the scheme is the largest
public/private sector scheme that North Kesteven District Council has been involved in recent
years, it is one of a number that have been carried out recently
aimed at boosting employment in the district.
