New vehicle registration office for Lincoln

A new Vehicle Registration Office has been developed for the reistering and licensing of vehicles in the region.

The new two-storey building at Firth Court, Firth Road, Lincoln, developed by Lincoln-based Lindsey Securities, forms the third phase of a £1 million city-centre development which stretches from the High Street to the Post Office sorting offices.

The VRO's 21 staff are moving into the high-specification, purpose-built offices, from their present premises at Mill House, which has been their home for the past 20 years.

The new offices are possibly the highest specified offices in the centre of Lincoln with raised access floors throughout, a
passenger lift, specialist lighting and automatic doors, according to Chris Hodgson of chartered surveyors, Hodgson
Elkington, agents responsible for letting the property.

"The letting of this building to the DVLA reflects the trend towards use of high quality, self-contained offices which are
economical to operate," added Mr Hodgson.

"The new offices are visually excellent, ideally located in this regenerated part of the city centre, customer friendly with good access for parking and for the disabled and will provide more space for staff, particularly with the diversification of work now being undertaken by local offices," said VRO manager, Bernadette Schimmel.

The 4,000 sq ft offices have been let and will be retained as an investment by Lindsey Securities.

The VRO will close its doors at Mill House for the last time at 12.00 Friday 26 May and will reopen for business at Firth Court
from 9.30 am, Tuesday, 30 May.
