A £3.2
million face-lift of the Embassy Centre in
Skegness has just been completed. The revamp
has changed the face of the seaside resort's
foreshore with £1.2 million from the European
Regional Development Objective 5b Fund and £2
million from East Lindsey District Council.
The
development saw the demolition, re-design and
re-building of the old 1930s-style Embassy
frontage, whilst the theatre which stands behind
it was preserved.
The old
outdoor swimming pool to the rear of the theatre
was also demolished and replaced with a new 200
space car park and outdoor pool with chalets has
been constructed to the side of the centre.
East
Lindsey District Council's Head of Tourism, Arts
and Public Relations, Bob Suich, said: "There
is tremendous interest in the three units.
We've made no secret of their availability, but it
wasn't until the building work was completed that
we had something concrete to show people."
The
district council's principal valuer Stephen King
said the council used aganets Hodgson Elkington in
Lincoln to market the property.
Mr King
added: "We've asked Hodgson Elkington to act
on our behalf to market the car park next to the
Embassy Centre which had been offered as a
redevelopment site to bring tourists from our
catchment areas to the town."
The
Embassy Centre development is one of the final
phases of the foreshore regeneration programme
which began five years ago.
