One of
Lincoln's most important historic landmarks -
The Glory Hole - located adjacent the River
Witham between High Street and the Brayford and
overlooking High Bridge - is up for sale.

The
Grade Two listed converted riverside warehouse
on North Witham Bank is a well known local
landmark and has been put on the market together
with the adjacent Stonebow House, by chartered
surveyors, Hodgson Elkington for £125,000.
"The Glory Hole currently offers offices of
great character but, subject to planning
permission, could be a very interesting
residential conversion opportunity. It is likely
to appeal to investors and developers who
appreciate the property's unique character and
location. We have already
received several serious enquiries," said
Daniel Race, partner at Hodgson Elkington.
The building was acquired by Lincoln solicitor
Gilbert Blades in the 1970's and he ran his own
practice there until the recent merger with
Epton & Co and Wilkin Chapman, which created
Wilkin Chapman Epton Blades.
"The Glory Hole has great historical
interest and occupies a wonderful position in
the centre of the city, next to the river and
away from traffic. We were sorry to leave there
but the expansion of the business on
our merger with Epton and Co meant that we
needed larger premises, hence our choice to
locate Wilkin Chapman Epton Blades at the Bank
Street offices," said Roger McCracken,
managing partner at Wilkin Chapman Epton Blades.
