EMDA launch new blueprint
The East Midlands Development Agency has
launched its new urban action development
plan.
The aim is to tackle deprivation, poor skills
and high unemployment, so that the region
can become one of the top twenty in Europe.
The key among the identified action areas
is a commitment to improve the climate for
investment in cities by working with developers
and new employers as soon as possible.
Lincoln City Council's Head of Economy and
Regeneration, Mike Roberts, said "We
have seen earlier drafts and now have a reasonable
idea of what EMDA is after."
"It is useful because it puts their
strategy into operational terms, giving us
clear clues as to what they want to see happen."
Chartered surveyor Hodgson Elkington is an
EMDA member.
Partner Chris
Hodgson said the firm worked with the
agency in producing a number of developments
including industrial projects.
"The development of advance factory
units in Lincolnshire invariably needs a catalyst.
We see EMDA as being a major influence in
this area in future years", said Mr Hodgson.
